Terms of Service

Last updated: 17 June 2026

1. Agreement

Certiva (certiva.co.za) is operated by Certiva (Pty) Ltd (Registration No. 2026/338141/07) ("Certiva", "we", "us"). By accessing or using the platform, creating an account, or completing a purchase, you ("you", "the user") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

2. What Certiva provides

  • Exam preparation. Practice question banks and timed mock papers for the postgraduate medical examinations we cover β€” currently the FCPsych, FCS and FCP Primaries, the Dip PEC Paper 1, and the FCPaeds Primaries β€” with worked explanations, textbook references and weakness tracking. This is independent study material (see section 6).
  • Accredited CPD. Online CPD courses and assessments that issue certificates of completion.
  • Free access. A short free demo (a sample of practice questions) per exam is available before payment is required.
  • We may add, change, suspend or remove content and features at any time.

3. Eligibility and your account

  • Certiva is intended for healthcare professionals and candidates preparing for the relevant examinations. CPD content is intended for professionals registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Certiva does not verify your registration status.
  • You must be 18 or older and provide accurate account information.
  • An account is for a single individual. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

4. Plans, pricing and payment

  • Exam Pass β€” a once-off payment of R399 granting access to a chosen exam's full question bank and mock papers for three (3) months from the date of purchase. This is not a recurring charge and simply expires at the end of the three months.
  • Monthly membership β€” R199 per month, which includes the exam preparation content plus all SAMA & UCT-accredited CPD courses, points and certificates. This is a recurring charge that renews automatically each month until cancelled.
  • Payments are processed by PayFast. By completing a purchase you authorise the applicable charge and, for the monthly membership, recurring monthly charges to your selected payment method.
  • All prices are in South African Rand and inclusive of any VAT where applicable. We may change prices on reasonable notice; a change does not affect a period you have already paid for.

5. Cancellation and refunds

  • You may cancel the monthly membership at any time via your dashboard or by emailing hellocertiva@gmail.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you retain access until then. No partial refunds are issued for unused time in a billing period.
  • The Exam Pass is a once-off purchase of digital access that begins immediately; it is non-refundable once access has been used, except where a refund is required by law.
  • Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. See our Cancellation & Refund Policy for full details.

6. Exam preparation β€” important notice

  • Certiva is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or accredited by the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA), the HPCSA, or any examining or professional body.
  • Our questions are original past-paper-style practice material. They are not official or actual examination questions and do not reproduce any exam.
  • We do not guarantee any examination result, pass, score or outcome. Your performance depends on your own preparation.
  • Questions, answer options, answer keys and explanations are prepared and edited by humans with the assistance of automated tools and may occasionally be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong. They are provided for study purposes only, do not constitute clinical or medical advice, and must always be verified against current primary sources and authoritative guidelines before being relied upon. By using the platform you accept that errors may occur and that you use the content at your own risk.

7. CPD accreditation

  • Where stated, CPD courses are accredited by recognised South African accreditors such as SAMA and UCT, as indicated per course.
  • We do not guarantee that any course or the points it carries will be accepted by the HPCSA or any body. It is your responsibility to ensure courses meet your specific CPD requirements.
  • Certificates are issued automatically upon passing the assessment. Certiva does not submit CPD records to the HPCSA on your behalf.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Share your account credentials with any other person
  • Attempt to circumvent the paywall, free-question limits, or any assessment
  • Scrape, bulk-download, copy, redistribute or resell any content or questions
  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose

9. Intellectual property

All questions, courses, explanations, design and materials on Certiva are owned by Certiva (Pty) Ltd and protected by applicable copyright laws. You are granted a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial licence to use the content for your own study during your period of access. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish or resell any content without our prior written permission.

10. Your personal information

We process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). By using Certiva you consent to that processing.

11. Availability

The platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may suspend access for maintenance or for reasons beyond our reasonable control.

12. Limitation of liability

Certiva provides educational content only. Nothing on the platform constitutes medical, legal, or professional advice. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Certiva (Pty) Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from use of the platform. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Clinical responsibility. You are solely responsible for your own clinical decisions, professional conduct and practice. Certiva does not direct or participate in patient care. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Certiva (Pty) Ltd accepts no liability for any clinical decision, diagnosis, treatment, prescription, patient outcome, injury, harm or loss, or for any professional, regulatory, disciplinary or medico-legal consequence (including any claim or allegation of malpractice or negligence), arising from your use of, or reliance on, the platform or its content. Always verify clinical information against current authoritative sources and exercise your own professional judgement.

13. Changes to these terms

We may change, add to, or remove these terms β€” and the platform, its content, questions, features and pricing β€” at any time and, where permitted by law, without prior notice. Revised terms take effect when posted on this page, and the "last updated" date above will reflect the change. It is your responsibility to review these terms periodically; your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. As a courtesy we may, but are not obliged to, notify members of material changes by email.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
